Ryan Game Blacked Out in L.A.

Share

Los Angeles is one of only a few television markets in the country that will not get full coverage on ESPN of Nolan Ryan’s attempt at his 300th baseball victory tonight.

Most of the nation gets these two games: Texas at Milwaukee, with Ryan going after No. 300, followed by Cincinnati at Dodger Stadium.

But because the Dodger game cannot be shown here, ESPN is delivering its backup feed to Southern California cable companies. The backup doubleheader is Toronto at Baltimore, followed by Seattle at Oakland.

An ESPN spokesman said that the cable network is not equipped to show one game from its main feed and another from its backup feed. The spokesman added, however, that cut-ins from the Texas-Milwaukee game will be provided to markets getting the backup feed.
