HUNTINGTON BEACH : Interviews Planned for School Board

Share

The Huntington Beach Union High School District Board of Trustees has scheduled a special meeting Tuesday to interview candidates for its open seat.

Candidates who have formally applied through the district office will be given three minutes to describe their educational philosophy and why they would like to become a board member.

Although the board may appoint a member to replace David Warfield immediately following the 7 p.m. meeting, it is expected to wait until its Aug. 14 meeting, district officials said.

Warfield, who had been elected in November to his second four-year term, resigned in June to become a teacher in Auburn, northeast of Sacramento.

Trustees agreed to appoint his replacement to avoid paying for a costly special election. The new member’s term will run through June, 1991, rather than Warfield’s full term, because the post will be appointed, not elected.
