Chandler Back to Colts as Trade Falls Through

Share

Quarterback Chris Chandler was back at square one Wednesday after the Indianapolis Colts announced the failure of a deal to trade him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Colt spokesman Craig Kelley said the trade fell through when Chandler refused to report to the Buccaneers. Earlier, the quarterback’s agent said negotiations over Chandler’s pay went nowhere.

The Chandler deal came apart as running back Eric Dickerson began mending his relationship with the Colts by hiring agent Leigh Steinberg, who is on friendly terms with General Manager Jim Irsay.

Dickerson also apologized to teammates for off-season criticism of the Colts’ offensive line and said he’d be willing to return to what he once called “a terrible football team.”

“I want things resolved,” Dickerson told The Indianapolis News. “I want to play football. At one time, I felt I was burned out, but I worked hard in the off-season, and I feel good--real good.”
