THE SIDELINES : Gubicza Undergoes Surgery
Kansas City Royals right-hander Mark Gubicza had arthroscopic surgery today to repair a partial tear in his rotator cuff.
Gubicza was expected to recover in time for spring training, said Royals team physician Steve Joyce, who performed the surgery.
Gubicza was to begin an exercise period for four months, graduate to a weight program and then begin long tossing by Dec. 1.
Put on the disabled list July 11, Gubicza last pitched June 29. He was 4-7 with a 4.50 earned-run average in 16 starts over 94 innings.
