The first National Football League preseason games of 1990 and a quartet of games matching the Dodgers and Angels against their Northern California rivals highlight a busy sports schedule on television this weekend.

The Raiders are among six teams beginning NFL preseason action before the league’s 22 other teams. The nomadic squad is in London for the American Bowl. The New Orleans Saints provide the opposition for Sunday’s 10 a.m. game on Channels 4, 36 and 39.

Two NFL games are on tap today. The Chicago Bears face the Cleveland Browns in the AFC/NFC Hall of Fame game at 10 a.m. on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42. Another American Bowl matches the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks in Tokyo at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

All three contenders in the suddenly revived National League West pennant race make Southland television appearances over the weekend. The third-place Dodgers take on the second-place Giants at 12:15 p.m. today on Channels 2 and 8 and Sunday at 12:30 p.m on KTTV Channel 11. The first-place Cincinnati Reds meet the San Diego Padres at 4 p.m. today and at 11:15 a.m. Sunday on Channels 42 and 51.

The Angels play host to the American League West-leading Oakland Athletics in SportsChannel games at 7 tonight and 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Goodwill Games concludes its 17-day run with telecasts beginning at 12:05 p.m. and 5:05 p.m. Sunday on cable station TBS. Meanwhile, the U.S. men’s basketball team, beaten by both the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia in the Goodwill Games, gets a rematch against the Soviet Union at 1 p.m. today on Channels 4, 36 and 39 as both teams prepare for the world championships later this month.
