Riverside’s Faria Wins Four-Lap Main Event

Mike Faria of Riverside won the four-lap scratch main event in the weekly speedway motorcycle program Friday at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano was second, Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa was third and Steve Lucero of Riverside fourth.

Billy Hamill of Monrovia won the eight-lap handicap main event. Alan Christian of Murrieta was second, Shawn McConnell of Brea was third, Oxley was fourth, Faria was fifth, Charlie Venegas of Vallejo was sixth, Tom Burba of Santa Ana was seventh and Mark Hannah of Sunset Beach was eighth.

Lee Edwards of England was first in the second division, five-lap main and Greg Applman of Downey won the third division four-lap main.
