Two Los Angeles photographers alleged Sunday that comedian Roseanne Barr’s husband assaulted them at Los Angeles International Airport as the couple arrived on a flight from Minneapolis.

Los Angeles Police Sgt. Michael Apodaca said the photographers, Ralph Dominguez and Robert Scott, filed a complaint charging that Barr’s husband, Tom Arnold, assaulted them as they attempted to take photographs of him and Barr at about 1:15 p.m.

Police declined to discuss details of the incident, but Jim Smeal, a friend of the photographers, said Dominguez told him that Arnold threw him to the ground and repeatedly punched him in crowded Terminal 2.

As Arnold allegedly assaulted Dominguez, Smeal said, the comedian’s husband noticed that Scott was photographing the incident. Arnold then threw a strobe light from Dominguez’s camera, striking Scott, Smeal said.

No airport police or security officers came to the scene, Smeal said, and the couple left in a waiting car.

Apodaca said detectives will investigate the photographers’ complaint this week and determine whether it will be referred to the city attorney’s office.

Barr and her husband could not be reached for comment.
