Jefforee Scores Four-Length Victory in Stakes at Saratoga
Jefforee took the lead at the head of the stretch en route to a four-length victory over Toffeefee in the $100,050 Nijana Stakes for 3-year-old fillies Wednesday at Saratoga.
The win was the third in eight starts this year for Jefforee, third in the Monmouth Oaks and second in the Hollywood Oaks in her last two starts. Ridden by Jose Santos, she covered the 1 1/8 miles in 1:49 and paid $8, $4.20, and $3.40.
Toffeefee finished 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Colonial Runner. Trumpet’s Blare, the favorite, trailed the pack most of the way before rallying midway through the stretch to finish fourth.
Toffeefee paid $7.60 and $4.60 and Colonial Runner paid $6.
