THE SIDELINES : University Cleared of Sex Bias
Fairleigh Dickinson University has been cleared of sex bias charges filed by the school’s former acting athletic director, who was passed over for the permanent position in 1986.
U.S. District Judge Harold A. Ackerman on Thursday upheld the appointment of former Tulane University basketball Coach Roy Danforth as the school’s athletic director.
Ackerman found there was no merit to the civil rights lawsuit filed by former acting Athletic Director Barbara Leshinsky.
Ackerman noted that the rejection was “a bitter pill to swallow” for Leshinsky, but ruled that FDU hired Danforth “simply because he was more qualified.”
