Schwartz Disqualified in Speedway Race
Defending U.S. Speedway champion Bobby Schwartz failed to advance out of his heat in the four-lap speedway scratch main Friday after he was disqualified for causing a crash in an eight-lap handicap heat at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.
Steve Lucero of Riverside won the four-lap scratch main event in front of 1,975. Alan Christian of Murrieta was second, Lance King of Fountain Valley was third and Louis Kossuth of Brea was fourth.
In the eight-lap handicap main, Christian was the winner, Josh Larsen of Newport Beach was second and Brad Oxley of San Clemente was third.
