Police are looking for a man who allegedly shot a 17-year-old girl after a domestic argument early Tuesday, an Escondido Police Department spokesman said.

Dorris Marie Hamm was shot at her home in the 100 block of South Midway Drive about 2 a.m., Lt. John Wilson said.

A suspect, who had swapped cars with Hamm’s boyfriend, came to the house to retrieve his own car, which was parked at Hamm’s house, when the argument began, Wilson said.

Details of what transpired were not clear, but the suspect allegedly shot Hamm once with a handgun before driving away in his own car, Wilson said.

The bullet grazed Hamm’s head, and she was treated at Palomar Hospital, then released, Wilson said.

An investigation into the case is continuing, Wilson said.
