BOSTON — Detroit reportedly is interested in securing the services of Boston Celtics guard Dennis Johnson, if the Pistons can’t make a deal with Vinnie Johnson.
Both players are unrestricted free agents.
Jack McCloskey, general manager of the Pistons, confirmed Tuesday that he has contacted Dennis Johnson’s agent, Fred Slaughter, the Boston Globe said today.
“We would be interested in Dennis if we can’t work something out with Vinnie Johnson,” McCloskey said. “We would like to sign Vinnie, and I think we can get it done, but if we can’t, then we would discuss (hiring Dennis Johnson).”
McCloskey said length of contract is the issue with Vinnie Johnson, 34. Dennis Johnson is 35.
