A Rebirth for the Hills: To celebrate the silver anniversary of “The Sound of Music,” 20th Century Fox will re-release the Oscar-winning musical on Aug. 24, the studio announced Wednesday. Winner of five Academy Awards, the film made its debut in 1965 and grossed $57 million over an unprecedented 4 1/2-year run. The classic will be re-released in Los Angeles and New York only, starting next Friday) at the Century Plaza Cinemas. An Aug. 23 gala party in Century City will be attended by Julie Andrews, director Robert Wise and six of the actors who played children in the film.
