HOLDOUTS : Cortez Kennedy No Seahawk Yet
The end of training camp is in sight, but the Seattle Seahawks have yet to sign their first-round draft pick, Cortez Kennedy.
With the team set to break camp this weekend, Kennedy remains the only unsigned player.
Meanwhile, Pro Bowl wide receiver Brian Blades, who is under contract, has refused to play until the team renegotiates his salary.
Coach Chuck Knox said Tuesday it’s not too late for the two holdouts to return in time to be in the lineup for the Seahawks’ regular-season opener Sept. 9 in Chicago.
“I’m still hopeful that we’ll get Cortez Kennedy and Brian Blades in here in time for that first game,” Knox said. “They’re both excellent football players.”
Team President Tom Flores said there was no progress with either player Tuesday although he did send a new proposal to Mike Moye, Kennedy’s agent.
