Harness Meet Opens Tonight
Racing returns to Los Alamitos Race Course tonight with the first of the 42-night harness racing meeting that extends through Oct. 20. The $10,000 Inaugural Pace, an invitational event for fillies and mares, highlights the 13-race program.
Driver Donald Dancer, who has won more than 3,500 races in the East, will make his debut at the Orange County oval. Jack Parker Jr., another top driver, is back after several years in the East.
Racing will be held nightly except Mondays and Tuesdays with the first post at 7:30. The meet also will feature the return of the American Pacing Classic after nine years. The $150,000 final will be held Sept 29 after three $35,000 legs on Sept. 8, 15 and 22.
