A small earthquake centered 42 miles northeast of San Diego jolted Julian residents Tuesday night, Caltech spokeswoman Heidi Aspaturian said.

No injuries or damage stemming from the 3.2-magnitude earthquake had been reported. The Sheriff’s Department had received two calls about the quake.

Hank Garfield, managing editor of the Julian News, was in his office when the quake struck at 8:21 p.m.

“It was pretty much a single shake, just one boom,” Garfield said.

A Sheriff’s Department spokesman said there were no reports of aftershocks.
