Rogelio Montenegro of Juanajyto, Mexico, was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center for treatment of a possible head injury after being knocked out by David Kamau in the seventh round of a junior-welterweight bout at the Country Club in Reseda.
Montenegro (26-1-1) lay motionless with his eyes open for seven minutes before being taken from the ring on a stretcher. A hospital spokesman said Montenegro was “stable and awake.”
Kamau, a native of Kenya living in Los Angeles, is 9-0.
