Todd Bridges, acquitted last week of an assault charge in the shooting of an alleged drug dealer in a South-Central Los Angeles crack house, is going back to work as an actor.
The former co-star of “Diff’rent Strokes” will guest star in an upcoming episode of the syndicated program “The New Lassie.”
MCA Television has announced that Bridges will play “a key role” in a courtroom drama installment. A publicist for the show said the actor is tentatively scheduled to play a deputy sheriff.
Bridges, 25, was acquitted of assault with a deadly weapon in the shooting of Kenneth (Tex) Clay on Feb. 2, 1989. Prosecutors said Clay was shot eight times in a dispute over the actor’s BMW automobile.
