Saddleback Takes Five-Set Victory Over Chaffey

Jody Narey had 21 kills to lead Saddleback College to a five-game victory at Chaffey in nonconference community college women’s volleyball Wednesday.

Setter Debbie Quam had 15 kills and 45 assists in the opener for Saddleback, which took a 14-16, 16-18, 15-2, 15-7, 15-12 decision.

In other nonconference women’s volleyball:

Cypress 3, Rio Hondo 0--Kari Calliham had 11 kills and Kristen Coombs had 20 assists to lead host Cypress (1-0) to a 15-3, 15-3, 15-12 victory.

In nonconference water polo:

Saddleback 11, El Camino 9--Fred Pieracci scored his second goal of the match with 4:36 remaining in the fourth quarter to break a 9-9 tie at Saddleback. Hooman Lahijani scored another goal for the Gauchos (1-1) with a second remaining.
