Plan OKd to Make County Workers Pay for Parking

Share

Los Angeles County supervisors have adopted a controversial plan that will, for the first time, require employees to pay for parking in the Civic Center.

Parking fees of from $70 to $225 are scheduled to go into effect Oct. 1. Each county employee, however, will receive $70 monthly to help offset the cost.

The plan was developed to meet South Coast Air Quality Management District requirements that large employers take steps to reduce the number of workplace trips to relieve traffic congestion and reduce air pollution.
