CSUN’s Davila Fit to Play Soccer
Cal State Northridge midfielder Terry Davila, who suffered a head injury in a 3-3 soccer tie against Washington on Wednesday, will play tonight when the vsiting Matadors (2-2-1) take on San Diego State in the Aztec Bowl. Ed Burns will miss the match, however, because of a sprained left knee. Burns, a defender, will be sidelined eight to 10 days. Game time has been changed to 7:30.
Randy Shields of North Hollywood, a former welterweight contender, has been given approval to return to the ring after a seven-year layoff.
Shields, 34, was given approval by the State Athletic Commission to apply for a boxing license. He sparred Thursday in a session that was observed by Steve English of the commission.
Shields is scheduled to fight Sept. 25 at the Country Club in Reseda in a 10-round junior middleweight bout. No opponent has been selected.
