Gerald L. Myers; Electronics Technician

Gerald L. Myers, an electronics technician and a longtime ham radio operator, has died in Sherman Oaks. He was 49.

A resident of Van Nuys, Myers died Sunday of cancer, said his sister,Mary Vanderwood.

Born Aug. 29, 1941, in Monette, Ark., Myers served in the U.S. Army for about eight years and was stationed in Germany. He later worked at the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group in Seattle and as a repairman at a television and radio shop in Las Vegas before moving to California in the late 1970s.

Myers worked for Lockheed Aeronautical Systems Co. in Palmdale and was hired in 1982 as an electronics technician for the Rocketdyne Division of Rockwell International Corp. in Canoga Park. He worked at Rocketdyne until April, when his health worsened.

A longtime ham radio operator, his identification number was KF6CQ.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly of Las Vegas; sister, Mary Vanderwood of Hermitage, Tenn.; half sisters Sally Biddy of Jackson, Miss., Edith Gaither of Marked Tree, Ark., Lena Phillips of West Memphis, Ark., Gladys Martin of St. Louis, Mo., Bonnie Scott of Barnhart, Mo., and Lucille Prather of Texas; and half brothers Whitfield Myers of Allendale, Mich., and Herbert Myers of St. Louis, Mo.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Little Church of the Flowers, Forest Lawn Memorial Park-Glendale, 1712 S. Glendale Ave.
