BIG WEST : Neal Scores Three Touchdowns as Fresno State Romps, 42-3

Fullback Lorenzo Neal rushed for a career high 102 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Fresno State to a 42-3 victory against New Mexico State in the Big West Conference opener for both teams Saturday night.

Neal scored on a seven-yard run in the first quarter for Fresno St.’s first score. Aaron Craver had a two-yard touchdown run and Neal added a 1-yard scoring run in the second quarter.

Bat Ly kicked a 32-yard field goal just before halftime for New Mexico St.’s only points. The loss extended New Mexico State’s nation-leading losing streak to 21 games.

Fresno has won 22 of its last 23 games.

Craver scored on a one-yard run in the third quarter, and Fresno, 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference, added two more touchdowns in the final quarter on a one-yard run by Neal and a seven-yard run by James Allison.

Fresno quarterback Mark Barsotti completed 14 of 32 passes for 174 yards.

Jimmie Mitchell led New Mexico State with 132 yards rushing in 21 carries. The Aggies turned the ball over five times, three of those leading to Fresno State touchdowns.

New Mexico State fell to 0-4 and 0-1.
