Crash Suspect Hits Pedestrian
A 19-year-old motorist, allegedly fleeing authorities after a hit-and-run accident, lost control of his car and struck a pedestrian in South El Monte, sheriff’s deputies said.
The pedestrian, whose identity was not released, suffered a broken leg, fire officials said. The driver, whose identity also was withheld, sustained minor head injuries in the chase, which ended when he plowed into a tree outside of the Greater El Monte Community Hospital, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies said.
The suspect allegedly had been involved in a hit-and-run accident and was being chased by deputies when his car jumped a curb, hit the pedestrian and crashed outside the hospital.
