Forum Rematch Between Banke, Zaragoza Postponed Indefinitely
The Oct. 8 Forum rematch between Paul Banke, the World Boxing Council super-bantamweight champion, and Daniel Zaragoza was postponed indefinitely Wednesday after Zaragoza’s physicians advised him not to fight, a Forum spokesman said.
Zaragoza was examined in Mexico City after complaining of severe headaches and an earache. The bout was to have been the third meeting between the two. Banke lost a split decision to Zaragoza 15 months ago but took the title last April when he stopped Zaragoza on a ninth-round technical knockout.
Banke, of Quail Valley, might fight Pedro Decima of Argentina, the WBC’s No. 1 contender, Nov. 5 at the Forum.
Instead of Banke-Zaragoza III, the Forum has scheduled a middleweight bout between Reggie Johnson and Gilbert Baptiste, and a junior-middleweight bout between Quincy Taylor and Jorge Vaca.
