LOS ALAMITOS : T K’s Skipper Breaks Record in the Classic
T K’s Skipper set a world record of 1:51 2/5 for aged pacers on a five-eighths-mile track in winning the American Pacing Classic at Los Alamitos Saturday night.
It was T K’s Skipper’s l9th victory in 26 starts and increased his earnings to $598,362 this year. He has earned $866,313.
Trainer Nick Sodano said the horse will be flown to Kentucky early this morning for a race at Lexington Wednesday and then be pointed to the Breeders’ Crown at Pompano Park in Florida Nov. 2.
Owner Jerry Dubiner of Pelham Manor, N.Y., said that he had turned down an offer of $6.5-million to syndicate the horse for stud duties and would continue to race him next year.
T K’s Skipper paid $2.10.
