Man Killed While Helping Woman
A 29-year-old San Diego man who reportedly came to the aid of a woman being assaulted was shot and killed early Sunday, San Diego police said.
The unidentified woman told police that Pedro Garcia Manuelas came to her aid at a residence in the 3400 block of Imperial Avenue.
Manuelas confronted her attacker, giving her an opportunity to escape, she told police. The assailant then left the residence, came back with several companions, and shot Manuelas with a shotgun several times.
Police were called to Imperial Avenue near the Interstate 15 bridge, where Manuelas had collapsed. He was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he died at 3:30 a.m., according to the county medical examiner’s office.
Police are seeking the attacker and his companions.
