Schwartz Defends Title in Orange County

Bobby Schwartz, a two-time United States Speedway motorcycle champion from Costa Mesa, will defend his national title tonight against 15 riders on the Orange County Fairgrounds’ one-eighth mile oval in Costa Mesa.
Mike Faria of Colton, who won the California State championship two weeks ago, and former U.S. champions Steve Lucero of Riverside, Brad Oxley of San Clemente and Alan Christian of Huntington Beach are expected to be the chief challengers.
The 20-heat program will start at 8.
