COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titan Women Lose Again in Volleyball

Cal State Fullerton lost its fifth consecutive Big West Conference women’s volleyball match when the University of the Pacific swept the Titans Friday at Fullerton.

Pacific won, 15-10, 15-3, 15-11, to improve to 14-1 overall and 4-1 in conference. Krissy Fifer had 14 kills to lead Pacific.

Becky Howlett had six kills for Fullerton (3-15, 0-5).

In nonconference women’s volleyball:

Southern California College 3, Biola 2--Cathy Westfall had 29 digs, Christa Hoover had 16 kills and Leslie Lastrapes had 14 kills to lead visiting Southern California College (15-13) to a 5-15, 6-15, 15-8, 15-6, 15-10 victory.

In Big West Conference men’s soccer:

Fresno State 2, UC Irvine 0--Rickey Villa and Gerell Elliott scored for fifth-ranked Fresno State (10-1-1, 2-0) at UC Irvine (4-8-1, 0-2).

Cal State Fullerton 2, Nevada Las Vegas 1--Lance Kremer and Raul Haro each scored a goal in the second half to lead host Fullerton (3-5-2).

In nonconference women’s soccer:

Oregon State 1, UC Irvine 0--Irvine’s five-game victory streak was stopped when Jenna Leavitt scored for visiting Oregon State. Alicia Miller had six saves for Irvine.

At the New Mexico State golf tournament, Mike Suckling and Joey Sugar each shot 72s after one round to put UC Irvine in third place at Las Cruces, N.M. Suckling and Sugar are tied for sixth place with six others.
