3.1 Quake Strikes 9 Miles South of Malibu
An earthquake measuring magnitude 3.1 occurred at 9:02 p.m. Monday in the ocean, nine miles south of Malibu, officials at the Caltech Seismology Lab in Pasasdena reported.
There were no reports of damage or injuries.
The sheriff’s Malibu station got a few calls about the quake, said Sgt. Linda Spradin.
“I felt it myself personally,” Spradin said. “It was two small, almost imperceptible rollers. Very quick.”
