COLLEGE FOOTBALL REPORT : WEEKDAY UPDATE : SAN DIEGO STATE : Luginbill Makes Lineup Changes

Share

The aftermath of Saturday’s 52-51 loss to Wyoming brought lineup changes Monday by Aztec Coach Al Luginbill, but they were minor compared to the ones made after the Brigham Young loss two weeks ago.

Freshman Marcus Preciado will replace the injured Johnny Walker (sprained foot) at free safety, although Luginbill said he was already considering making a change at the position.

Damon Pieri, Gary Taylor and Marlon Andrews will compete for the starting cornerback positions in practice this week: Taylor and Andrews started last week.

Luginbill also announced that Patrick Rowe will be the primary return man on the kickoff team. He will flanked by Larry Maxey and Kipp Jeffries. Receiver Merton Harris had been a member of the kickoff return team.

Aztec notes: Running back Tommy Booker, who has missed the last three games with an ankle injury, ran well in practice and should play Saturday at UCLA. Luginbill said he is still not sure who will start at running back: Booker, T.C. Wright, Maxey or Curtis Butts.
