COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Welsh’s 30 Kills Lead San Jose State
Betsy Welsh had 30 kills to lead 11th-ranked San Jose State to a four-game victory over Cal State Fullerton in a Big West Conference women’s volleyball game Monday at Fullerton.
San Jose State, which improved to 12-1 overall and 6-1 in conference, won, 15-8, 14-16, 15-6, 15-9. The loss was Fullerton’s 13th consecutive.
Becky Howlett had 19 kills, Stephanie Schofield had 13 kills and 18 digs and Michele Paul had eight blocks that turned into either side-outs or points for Fullerton (3-17, 0-7).
In California Coastal Conference women’s volleyball:
Pacific Christian 3, Southwestern 0--Stacee Carpenter had five kills to lead host Pacific Christian (16-4) to a 15-1, 15-4, 15-4 victory over Southwestern (8-6).
