LOCAL : 3 Pedestrians Die on Freeways
Three people who walked or fell onto freeways, including a man fleeing mall security guards, were struck by cars and killed in separate traffic accidents within 12 hours of each other, authorities said today.
A man, about 25, was hit by a car and killed on the southbound Hollywood Freeway near Fountain Avenue shortly before 5:30 a.m., closing two lanes to commuters.
A pedestrian who fell or jumped from the Broadway overpass of the Hollywood Freeway was struck by a car in a northbound lane and was killed about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.
And a man sought by Cerritos Mall security guards was hit on the northbound San Gabriel River Freeway north of South Street at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday.
