Man Fires Into Crowd; 4 Hurt

Share

Four people were injured when a gunman shouted “white power” and fired into a racially mixed crowd at a Tarzana party, Los Angeles police said Saturday.

A 20-year-old Canoga Park man was arrested after the shooting, which left two of the victims hospitalized in serious but stable condition. They were among a group of people at the house where the party was held when a white man shouted the slogan and shot at them about 11:45 p.m. Friday, Officer Victor Monroe said.

Police refused to identify the victims or the hospital where they were taken.

Shortly after the incident, Jeffrey Scott Johnson was arrested at his Canoga Park home on suspicion of attempted murder. Monroe would not say what led police to Johnson, who was being held without bail Saturday at the West Valley jail.

Richard Perelman, who lives on the cul-de-sac where the shooting occurred, said he heard six shots.
