Magic Moose Sets Record at Los Al
Magic Moose put in a career effort Tuesday night in taking the $20,000 U.S. Harness Writers Trot feature by 3 1/4 lengths over his entrymate, Dear Miss.
Trained by Pete Foley and driven by Ross Croghan, Magic Moose traversed his victorious mile in a lifetime best 1:56 4/5. That mile not only broke his track record for aged trotting geldings, it made him the fastest trotter in Los Alamitos history.
Magic Moose tracked the pace-setting BH Dynamite down the backstretch, then was able to clear after a fast 1:27 1/4 three-quarters.
Magic Moose and Dear Miss were the second favorites in the wagering and paid $10.60 to win.
Dear Miss picked up the place money over Nothing Ventured, who had to settle for the show and an end to his 10-race winning streak.
