Tony Solliday threw three touchdown passes in the first quarter to lead third-ranked Capistrano Valley to a 42-21 South Coast League victory over San Clemente in front of 4,500 Friday night.

Solliday, playing with a broken index finger on his throwing hand suffered in last week’s loss to El Toro, completed all five of his passes for 136 yards in the first quarter before being replaced by Scott Patton.

Capistrano Valley (6-1, 1-1) scored four touchdowns in its first eight offensive plays.

Solliday’s first pass of the game went for 59 yards to Dave Poltl, setting up a 10-yard touchdown pass to Patton. Following an interception by Motor Mosebrook, Solliday threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Poltl.
