COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Rancho Santiago Suspends Players, Loses in Soccer

Rancho Santiago, playing without starters Eddie Buenrostro and Jose Vasquez, lost to Golden West College, 1-0, in an Orange Empire Conference soccer game Tuesday at Golden West.
Buenrostro was suspended from the team for the rest of the season for allegedly playing with a club team during the season, which violates conference rules.
Vasquez has been suspended until an investigation is complete on allegations he also played on a club team. The inquiry is expected to conclude Monday.
John Hawks of Golden West (6-8-2, 3-4-2) scored with seven minutes remaining to beat Rancho Santiago (6-1-2 in the conference). Chris Lekavich had nine saves in posting his second shutout of the season.
In other Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:
Cypress 0, Irvine Valley 0--Goalie Aaron Ryan had seven saves for Irvine Valley (10-1-6, 3-1-5) and Joe Dillman had two for visiting Cypress (7-5-3, 4-3-2).
Orange Coast 5, Riverside 1--Andy Strouse, Darin Courter, Kevin Villar, Marco Vasquez and Chris Doherty each scored for host Orange Coast (9-6-1, 6-2-1). Riverside is 2-7-5, 0-7-2.
Fullerton 6, San Bernardino Valley 2--Daren Martinez and David Uzzi each had two goals and Gabriel Bustos and Gaspar Gutierrez each had one for visiting Fullerton (7-8-2, 5-3-1).
In nonconference women’s soccer:
Golden West 2, Bakersfield 1--Melanie Midani and Amy Utter each scored in the first half for the visiting Rustlers (5-6-2).
In South Coast Conference water polo:
Golden West 15, Cerritos 9--Brian Sciacca had four goals and Tory Culbertson three to lead host Golden West (22-3, 4-0).
In Orange Empire Conference water polo:
Cypress 19, Rancho Santiago 11--Bob Reinke had four goals for visiting Cypress (15-12, 6-4). Joel Stewart had five goals for Rancho Santiago.
Orange Coast 21, San Diego Mesa 10--Mike McNeff had five goals to lead host Orange Coast (21-5, 8-1), which is tied for first place with Grossmont.
