Westlake Gains 515 Yards in 56-6 Win

Westlake High, ranked No. 1 in the region, rolled up 515 yards en route to a 56-6 victory over Simi Valley in a Marmonte League game Friday night at Simi Valley.

Westlake (8-0, 5-0) scored in six of its first seven possessions and led, 36-0, at halftime. Quarterback Todd Preston, the area’s leading passer, completed 15 of 22 passes for 269 yards and a school-record five touchdowns, all in the first half.

The scoring passes gave Preston 17 for the season. The senior has completed 114 of 178 for 1,773 yards.

Receiver Seamus Gibbons made four receptions for 111 yards and three touchdowns, including a 67-yard score midway through the first quarter. Erik Holcomb caught three passes for 38 yards and two touchdowns to give him nine touchdown catches this year.

The Warriors’ ground game was featured in the second half. Tailback Reuben Allen finished with 162 yards in 16 carries to give him exactly 1,000 yards this season. Allen scored on a 26-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Tim Kirksey, Simi Valley’s quarterback in its previous seven games, played halfback and caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from Vince Allegra in the third quarter for the Pioneers’ only points.

Running back Ryan Azlein finished with 50 yards in nine carries for Simi Valley (0-8, 0-5).
