Quiet American Wins in 1:32 4/5
Quiet American, bumped from the field in the Breeders’ Cup, ran the fourth fastest mile ever in New York on Saturday in winning the $638,000 NYRA Mile at Aqueduct in 1:32 4/5.
The 4-year-old colt, a grandson of record-holder Dr. Fager (1:32 1/5), took the lead at the start, was eased back, then came on again to retake the lead entering the stretch. Through the stretch, Quiet American widened his advantage to 4 3/4 lengths, carrying 116 pounds and ridden by Chris McCarron.
