Torero Soccer Team Named in Two Polls
The University of San Diego men’s soccer team, preparing for its first appearance in the NCAA National Championship Tournament, appeared in the top 20 in both national polls, Tuesday. The Toreros were ranked 17th in the ISAA/Gatorade (Coaches) Poll and 19th by Soccer America.
USD, which defeated West Coast Conference champion University of Portland, 2-0, at home Sunday, will face Portland in Portland, Ore., again this Sunday in its NCAA opener. Charles Adair, a sophomore forward from Hilltop High, scored both goals in Sunday’s victory and was named WCC Player of the Week. MEN’S BASKETBALL
San Diego State guard Arthur Massey will likely be sidelined until at least Friday with a bone chip in his left ankle, according to trainer Mark Haines.
“We’ll try to release him by Friday, but if it flares up we will have to back off,” Haines said.
