Two teen-agers were wounded by shotgun pellets during an argument with a Glendale resident who claimed they were driving at an excessive speed through his neighborhood, police said Friday.

Kwame Owen Barlow-Kelly of La Crescenta and Scott Ryan Erickson of Montrose, both 17, were released after being treated at area hospitals for pellet wounds in the back and legs, Glendale police said.

Officers responding to a report of gunfire Thursday evening found Duane Scott De Haven, 32, standing in front of his house in the 5000 block of Lauderdale Avenue with his hands raised and a shotgun on the sidewalk nearby, police said.

De Haven was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He was released Friday after posting $20,000 bail and was ordered to appear at a Dec. 26 arraignment in Glendale Municipal Court, Officer Mario Yagoda said.

The suspect told police that he flagged down the teen-agers because they were driving a red 1986 Dodge Colt at 40 to 50 m.p.h. through the neighborhood. He told police a fight erupted, and the youths chased him and used a large flashlight to break windows in his house.

De Haven ran into his house, grabbed a 12-gauge shotgun and fired through the screen door, he told police. As the teen-agers ran away, he followed and fired five to eight shotgun blasts.
