An Anaheim man suffered minor cuts early Sunday when he tried to extinguish a blaze in his apartment complex that caused $75,000 damage to two units, fire officials said.

An attic and two carports were damaged and two vehicles were destroyed in the fire that began at about 3 a.m. at the 1500 block of E. Benmore Lane, according to the Anaheim Fire Department. Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire, which took a team of 46 firefighters more than half an hour to control.

Samuel Espinosa, who lives in the apartment building, suffered minor cuts on his hand as he fought the flames before firefighters arrived, said Barbara Burke, a spokeswoman for the city.
