Pro Football Report : Weekday Update : RAMS : Robinson Hopeful

NFC Wild-Card Muddle Update: The 3-6 Rams are currently tied with three other teams, one game out of the last wild-card playoff spot.

“The way this league is going, a number of teams with mediocre records, probably gives hope to everybody for an extended period of time,” Ram Coach John Robinson said. “We seem to be all kind of lumped at the mediocre level.”

The Rams let Gaston Green carry the ball in the first quarter against the New York Giants Sunday, and he reeled off his career-long run, a 31-yard dash that also was the longest Ram run of the season. Green didn’t get another carry.

“I wish I’d have played Gaston Green some more,” Robinson said Monday. “Gave him the ball one time and he popped one, kind of on a cutback. We planned to play him more, but we were throwing all the time. It just didn’t turn out that way.”

After de-activating defensive lineman Bill Hawkins Sunday, Robinson said he was going to try to get the second-year player back in the mix. “That’s something we’re going to focus on this week--get him going again and find a specific role for him and get him playing,” Robinson said.
