PRO FOOTBALL REPORT / WEEKDAY UPDATE : AROUND THE NFL : Rypien Says He’s Ready
Mark Rypien, who suffered a knee injury eight weeks ago, said he was ready to return as quarterback of the Washington Redskins. “Unless something drastic happens, I’ll be ready to go,” Rypien said after practicing Wednesday.
Jeff Rutledge, who severely bruised his thumb Monday night against Philadelphia, also threw the football Wednesday, and coaches said his thumb is healing well enough for him to resume his backup role this Sunday.
San Francisco 49er safety Chet Brooks will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and will be out indefinitely, Coach George Seifert said.
