Morse 49, Granite Hills 6--No. 1 Morse got its first touchdown of the game from Gary Taylor on an eight-yard run. Then, on Granite Hills’ first play of the game, Kevin Nolan intercepted a pass and ran it back for a touchdown to give Morse a 14-0 lead with less than four minutes elapsed. Morse held a 42-0 lead going into the second half, which quarterback Teddy Lawrence did not play.

Taylor finished with 117 yards on 19 carries and teammate Conan Smith picked up 63 more on seven carries.

Teddy Lawrence finished his two quarters of play by completing three of five passes for 115 yards and one touchdown. He also ran for 46 yards on seven carries.

Chula Vista 26, Fallbrook 7--Defensive tackle Andy Duran intercepted a John Dutton pass and returned it 80 yards to lead Chula Vista (10-2). It was one of four interceptions against Dutton, a sophomore. Donnie Edwards intercepted two passes, the second he returned from the end zone to the 30-yard line to set up the final touchdown. Lamar Bailey rushed eight times for 63 yards and a touchdown; Neviett Richardson rushed 15 times for 75 yards and a touchdown; and Steve Gomez rushed 21 times for 112 yards.

Fallbrook (5-5-1) scored on the second play of the game when Tony Burton went in from 70 yards.

Helix 42, Patrick Henry 0--Kenny Carter rushed for 127 yards in 16 carries, and Jarrett Parr rushed for 97 yards in 16 carries and two touchdowns to lead third-ranked Helix (9-1) over visiting Patrick Henry (4-6-1). Helix quarterback Greg Wilbur completed 10 of 13 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Mira Mesa 34, Torrey Pines 14--Wayne Pittman had 21 carries for 205 yards and three touchdown runs of one, 53 and 56 yards for Mira Mesa (9-2). Robbie Edwards had 14 carries for 62 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Chad Davis completed 19 of 35 passes for 208 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for Torrey Pines (4-6-1).

Vista 13, Mt. Miguel 7--Ryan Leitzell rushed eight times for 113 yards and completed six of 12 for 108 yards to lead host Vista (6-5). Mt. Miguel finished 6-5.
