King Controversy
An open letter to NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue:
Now that you have threatened to remove the 1993 Super Bowl from Phoenix for voting down a Martin Luther King Holiday, please consider San Diego as your replacement. We did a wonderful job with the last Super Bowl and have a vast array of festivities planned already.
Picture if you will, a parade--right down Martin Luther King Way. I mean Market Street.
The parade could flow right into a gala celebration at our state-of-the-art convention center! Well, yes, we did vote against naming it after Dr. King, but the name just took up too much space on the letterhead. There was no malice intended.
I hear local dignitary Tom Metzger has volunteered to underwrite one of the celebrity tents, provided he has any funds remaining from his lawsuit.
