Minnesota Viking kicker Donald Igwebuike pleaded not guilty to charges that he attempted to smuggle heroin into the United States from his native Nigeria.
At Igwebuike’s arraignment in a Tampa (Fla.) federal court, his attorney, Frank Winkles, said, “Donald doesn’t quite understand why he’s in this situation.”
If convicted and sentenced to the maximum on all charges, Igwebuike could face up to 120 years in prison and $6 million in fines.
