The San Diego State Aztecs women’s volleyball team was invited to the 32-team NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in the 10 years of the event. SDSU has had its troubles against BYU, losing at home to the Cougars in five games and getting swept at Provo, Utah. If the Aztecs win, they will play Dec. 7 in the regional semifinals at a site yet to be determined.

The Aztecs’ best tournament results were in 1981 and 1982 when they were third.

The other seeds in the West are: No. 1 UCLA (31-1), No. 2 Stanford (25-3), No. 4 New Mexico (21-6), No. 5 Pepperdine (25-5), No. 7 Wyoming (19-9) and No. 8 Gonzaga (21-6).
