Dehli, a Norwegian exchange student, helped Sunny Hills to its first Southern Section title in the school’s history by sweeping her singles sets in a 12-6 victory over Los Alamitos in the Division 2-A championship Tuesday. Dehli, who is the fourth-ranked girls’ junior player in Norway and developed powerful ground strokes on clay courts in her native country, overcame a 4-2 lead by Los Alamitos’ No. 1 player, Laura Brun, winning four consecutive games for a 6-4 victory. Brun had defeated Dehli, 6-1, earlier in the season. Dehli, the Freeway League’s singles runner-up, played much of the year at No. 2 singles behind sophomore Karen Galvin, but moved up in the later stages of the season. In five playoff matches, Dehli was 14-1 and was unbeaten in the Lancers’ final four matches. Other top performers:

Lara Carlsen, who had 19 kills in Corona del Mar’s four-game victory over Notre Dame Academy Tuesday and 12 kills in the Sea Kings’ five-game victory over Poway Saturday in the state Division I volleyball playoffs.

Zrinka Kristich, who had 22 kills in La Habra’s four-game victory over Bakersfield Highland Saturday and 12 kills in the Highland- ers’ three-game sweep of La Jolla Tuesday in the state Division II volleyball playoffs.

Keri Phebus, who swept her singles sets in the Division 4-A champi- onship match against Palos Verdes Tuesday to remain undefeat- ed in singles this season. However, Corona del Mar was beaten by Palos Verdes, 77-67, on games.

Shelley Taylor, an Edison cross-country runner who finished second in the state in Division II Saturday, running 17:46 for three miles.

Tahlia Wagner, who had 16 kills in Corona del Mar’s five-game victory over Poway Saturday in the state Division I volleyball play- offs.
