ROUNDUP : Consistent Grossmont Beats Pierce in Volleyball Regional

It was a long evening of repetitively discouraging scores for Pierce College as Grossmont defeated the Brahmas, 15-5, 15-5, 15-5, Tuesday night in the second round of the Southern California women’s volleyball regional at Grossmont College.

Pierce (18-3) also was eliminated in the second round of the regional last year. The Brahmas played Tuesday without two of their regulars, setter Amy Sodek (sprained ankle) and middle blocker Andrea Banducci (knee injury).

Grossmont (19-4) jumped to a 9-1 lead in the first game and a 10-1 lead in the second. For Pierce, Stephanie Burns, Carina Sailer and Nathalie Zodan each had seven kills. Lisa Suwara, filling in for Sodek, had 22 assists.
